When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was the next sci-fi horror movie, so I wasn't very enthusiastic about it but I was delightfully surprised.
In a time when every other method of producing energy beside fossil fuel is being heralded as divine, this movie reminds us what actually makes things look good and bad - human involvement. The story begins somewhere in the future, where about 50% of Earth's energy comes from mining helium-3 on the Moon by a company called Lunar Industries. As you can see from the opening sequence - everybody's happy about that. Even the company employee, who's oversees the whole process. From then on, there come some nasty surprises and the movie turns to a very clever amalgam of The Matrix, Solaris and A Space Odyssey, bringing every idea of its 3 predecessors to a whole new level. On top of that it also presents us with a strikingly logical question - Can machines really be a threat to humanity. What's more dangerous - something you can program or something with free will?
