ok this "active topics" seems to have never been active in the first place - it was a bug
so obviously they fixed it now and naturally since the forums have never been set so - no active topics
or at least i hope so - check in a couple of days if its still the same
not that ive found any solution to fix it or anyone else with a similar problem
alpha - i think its better to use either "unread" or "new"

Strange, it worked for me. Every time someone posted, the corresponding topic got on top of the active list. That's how I was able to track Plam and retaliate when necessary. Now that it's no longer available, the world is doomed!
The "unread" doesn't seem to help because once I read a topic - it disappears from the list. Oh, the horror!

one more thing i changed and i forgot to mention - the link "View new posts" is
now present on every page in the header (before FAQ)
so you dont have to go back to forum index to check if there are new posts
just click on this icon that is at the bottom right of
each post - to take you to the header
then click "View new posts"
speeds up navigation and discussions quite a lot

ok active topics is finally working
the setting was strangely devided in 2
for categories and for each forum
and activating it for categories
did not change the settings or all forums inside that category
so one should open the settings for every forum separately to activate the setting...
whats the point in the category setting then?

its been reorganized, reshuffled and facelifted
i believe its sexier now, straightforward and slim
no thread has been lost - its all in there - just easier to find

changed some settings on the feeds
and the number of displayed topics per page reduced from 50 to 10
other optimization ideas are welcome
